VPNTool.com was started with the intention to bring quality VPN service to the people that need to benefit from the VPN technology. The reason why they chose 128 bit is because its secure enough and at the same time it won’t kill your CPU.
VPNTool offers free L2TP/IPSec VPN service. Their connection clients work on Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 system. Their server location is in France. VPNtool don’t display any ads while you are using their free service. The connection speed for free account is limited to 96Kbs for upload and 96Kbs for download. Before using VPNtool. first you need to visit their official website at www.vpntool.com. Then click “services” link. There you should choose a sign up link corresponding to your operating system. The signup form is very simple. You need to enter your valid email address. You will receive VPNtool client software, username and password instantly on their website. A copy of username and password will be emailed for your records.
The easiest way to use VPNtool is to download and run their connection client. After running their software, a new VPN connection icon will be created on your desktop. Double click the VPNtool connection icon, enter your user name and password. Click “Connect” and you are done. See the screenshot below.
For advanced user, you can manually setup a VPN connection and name it “VPNTool”. The free VPN server address is nos.vpntool.info. You need to edit the properties of “VPNTool” before connecting. Below is the property setting on Windows 7.
VPNtool properties: Click the Security tab, select “Automatic” as type of VPN. Don’t choose “L2TP/IPsec” because we don’t have a pre-share key for this L2TP VPN. Authentication setting are shown in the above screenshot. Save the setting and connect. PPTP and L2TP connection will be automatically tried. And L2TP connection will be connected successfully. The settings only work on Windows 7.
