It is not difficult to setup PPTP VPN or L2TP VPN on iPhone/iPad. But if we want to use OpenVPN on an iPhone or iPad, is there a way we can setup OpenVPN on iPhone/iPad? The answer is Yes. Here we need an iPhone app called GuizmOVPN.
GuizmOVPN is an OpenVPN GUI for iPhone/iPad, designed to be easy to setup, configure and run. You can test GuizmOVPN for free without restriction during 7 days. After that evaluation period, the VPN will disconnect every 5 minutes, with a 5 minutes delay between 2 connections. The full version costs 4.99€, with no time limit or recurrent subscription.
The installation of GuizmOVPN requires a Jailbroken device. If your iPhone/iPad has not Jailbroken please use PPTP or L2TP VPN connection.
Install GuizmOVPN:
On your iPhone/iPad
In Cydia -> Manage -> Edit -> Add -> “cydia.guizmovpn.com”
Install the only package there by clicking on the new added source.
Go back to home page after install and run GuizmOVPN
Download OpenVPN config files and use Guizmovpn:
First step is to execute Guizmovpn.
Click on Download new configuration. There is a list of premium VPN providers. If your VPN service provider is not in the list, you can choose Other in the VPN providers list. Please contact your VPN provider for the OpenVPN config files for Guizmovpn.
Download and complete the configuration. The downloaded configuration will appear in the list. Select it and set “Connect = ON”
Enter your VPN LOGIN NAME and password.
Then open the “Log” tab and wait until you see “Initialization Sequence Completed”.
Don’t close the app, just switch for example to Safari and verify whether your IP has changed.
After you are connected to the VPN server, you will see the Guizmovpn icon on the top bar next to your battery icon.
